Charles River Rugby Gives Back at Cradles to Crayons

  • Charles River Rugby at Cradles to Crayons

Charles River Rugby Club recently joined together with fellow Rat supporters to volunteer at Cradles to Crayons.

Cradles to Crayons is a non-profit organization that provides children from birth through age 12, with the essential items they need to thrive – at home, at school and at play. More than 305,000 Massachusetts children live in low-income households and in any given year, more than 100,000 will experience homelessness. Cradles to Crayons helps these children by giving them shoes that fit, warm winter coats, or a backpack for school supplies. These items are meant to help the kids feel valued and therefore excel in school and live happy.

During our volunteer visit we sorted through donated clothes at Cradles to Crayons Giving Factory. Our job was to create outfits for specific age groups and put them together in clothing packs. In just two hours we were able to help over 140 kids. Individual Rats also donated much needed items, such as hygiene products for babies. And with a very generous monetary donation from Old Boy Dennis Donovan, we were able to purchase $50 worth of clothing and other high demand items.

This is not the first or last volunteer effort for Charles River Rugby. Please keep an eye out for future dates to volunteer!
