Since its inception, the Charles River Rugby Football Club has been dedicated to giving back to the community. Below is a brief summary for some of our past community service events.

Boston Youth Rugby Development

CRRFC continually supports the Youth Rugby Development program cosponsored by the Boston Rugby Consortium, Boston Parks Department, and the Boston Centers for Youth and Families. Children are instructed on the basics of the game, the importance of being a positive team member, and how enjoyable the game of rugby is! Clinics began in the summer of 2005 and will continue to run in the spring and summer seasons in South Boston, Charlestown, Roxbury, East Boston, and Jamaica Plain.

Massachusetts Race For the Cure

For the last three years, the club has participated in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. In September 2005, the club had thirty-one racers and a total of over $3,800 raised for the foundation. In September 2006, we far exceeded our team membership and fundraising goals, with fifty-one racers and $8,825 raised.

In 2007, Sixty-one Charles River Rugby players, friends, family and coworkers particapated raising $7,108.  Charles River Rugby is proud to support such an important cause, and it is our hope that our participation helps increase awareness of the fight against breast cancer.

 Transition House Holiday Toy Drive

The team collected thousands of dollars of toys and donations for the Transition House this holiday season. The Transition House is an organization that provides services for families dealing with domestic violence. We hope that our donations provided local families a brighter holiday season and can help the transition house continue to educate and assist families dealing with domestic violence.

Boys and Girls Club of Boston

In 2006 and 2007, the team participated in contributing new sports equipment and donations to benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Boston. We hope that our donations promote team work and good health amongst our cities youth.
