Charles River Gives Back with the Greater Boston Food Bank

By volunteering 2.5 hours on 3 different Wednesday nights, Charles River Rugby was able to help feed a family of 4 for over 5 years! The Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB) is the largest hunger-relief organization in New England and distributes upwards of 48 million pounds of food per year to local organizations. Their mission distribute 60 million pounds and thus be able to provide one meal a day to every person in need in eastern Massachusetts. To do this, they need over 25,000 volunteers a year. ... More

Meet Dan Solomon

Dan started playing with Charles River in 1976 and continued to put the boots on until the early 90’s. Around that time he also began the transition to being the man behind the whistle at practice. Jamie Carrillo’s impressive rugby playing career began in 2008 at Bentley University, but her understanding and interest in the game began when she was attending high school in Zurich, Switzerland. Her high school did not have a women’s team, but once at Bentley she took advantage of the opportunity to begin playing herself and feel address a bit of homesickness she had of Europe after she returned to the US.... "O scrum all ye faithful" and join in our holiday card fundraiser! For the third year in a row we will be selling beautiful, hand made holiday cards. Each card is designed by our talented Charles River ruggers, Anne Beaumont and Cassie Cox, and hand made by the less-talented, but ever-faithful elves of the club. You can see some sample cards in the images here (more to come!). As USA Rugby continues to make structural changes in their effort to field the best side possible for the upcoming 2016 Olympics, the effects are being felt in Unions across the country.
